Today... One Month in the Tent!

Hey everyone,

Today is exactly 1 month that I have lived in the tent! It has probably been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I can honestly say that I am happier right now than I have ever been in my life.   I feel like God has been present to me and is opening doors and I am just loving the feeling of trying to follow where the Holy wind blows.

Quick recap so far...

Beginning of January- Leave home for D.C. to get a job in Afghanistan.

Middle of Jan.- go to Haitian embassy to help, asked by Haitian Ambassador to stay on as assistant to help in earthquake recovery. Offered a hotel room but thought... "maybe I should stay in a tent."

3 days later... meet girl of my dreams and fall in love immediately (I know, I know, all you cynical people out there who don't believe in this or think it won't last... I used to be one of you a few weeks ago.)

Feb. 3rd- set up the tent on a busy street corner near the U.S. Capitol building.  It becomes my home...

3 days later... Blizzard hits.
couple days later... another historic Blizzard hits.

The next couple weeks..  Awesome people come visit me at the tent, send me encouraging messages, and bring good food and drinks and warm clothes.

CNN comes, Voice of America comes, TeleSur comes, the Washington Informer comes, newstations back home call, documentary film crew comes.

Get the attention and support of the Haitian Ambassador and his wife, Senator Dick Durbin, D.C. councilmember Kwame Brown (who names me the DC show love for Haiti Ambassador), among others.

A few more Americans feel blessed for everything they have been given.  They grow in compassion and solidarity, and are moved to reevaluate their own lifestyle and ask themselves what truly brings fulfillment..      People are inspired to donate...  People are inspired to host their own events.  A few more families down in Haiti get shelter over their head before the rainy season starts.  A few more lives are saved.

March 3rd- Today I thank God for 1 month in the tent.  I thank God for all the blessings shown to me, and for using my life to help bring about a little more good into the world.  I pray that God continues to work with me and all Americans to help us to grow in Love, Compassion, and Solidarity with our neighbors in need.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

What are you going to do now? Also, I'm curious: do you have an idea of how much money you raised?
